The Whole World is a Stage: Dystopian Playground

For this body of work I began by channeling my inner emotion and frustrations to build organic ceramic characters which emerge from fleshy amalgamations of wounds. Their surfaces became representative of all the pain that has built us, their connections indicative of both the remedy and cause. Through the installation, I create a dystopian playground in which they struggle to connect with one another. With dramatic lighting and dynamic placement, an unsettling environment is created for the viewer to step into. The ambiguity of expressions, identity, and relations allow each viewer to fill in the blanks, to bring their own life history to be played out by my creations. Being the first iteration of The Whole World is a Stage, this version was installed in March of 2017.
